Affordable Housing Summit
The City of Hendersonville’s Strategic Housing Plan Steering Committee invites the community to attend and participate in the 2024 Affordable Housing Summit.
On Thursday, May 16, 2024, a free event will be held from 5:30 PM to 7:45 PM at the Hendersonville High School auditorium located at 1 Bearcat Blvd. The evening will feature acclaimed housing policy expert and author, Shane Phillips as well as a panelist of local leaders. The summit is open to non-profit service providers, members of the business community, government leaders, affordable housing advocates, community members, and anyone committed to expanding and improving housing in Henderson County and across the WNC region. A resource expo will also be available for attendees to connect with local service providers.
This program is FREE and open to all. Current residents and those seeking residency in Hendersonville and Henderson County are encouraged to attend.
Please pre-submit questions for Shane Phillips and the panelists by May 13th at 8:00 AM. The community can continue to submit questions to assist the strategic housing committee with the plan's development.

The future of affordable housing in Henderson County takes center stage on Thursday, May 16, 2024, as the community gathers for the City of Hendersonville’s Affordable Housing Summit. Set to begin at 5:30 PM in the Hendersonville High School Auditorium, located at 1 Bearcat Blvd, this free event promises an evening of ideas and insights.
The summit features a keynote presentation by esteemed housing policy expert and author, Shane Phillips. Renowned for his work in advocating a comprehensive approach to housing issues, Phillips brings a wealth of knowledge from his role as the manager of the Housing Initiative at the UCLA Lewis Center for Regional Policy Studies and as the author of "The Affordable City".
Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with local panelists representing various organizations dedicated to expanding housing opportunities in the region. Panelists include Sarah Grymes, Vice President of Housing at the Dogwood Health Trust; Lew Holloway, Community Development Director for the City of Hendersonville; and Christopher Todd, Business and Community Development Director for Henderson County.
Attendees are encouraged to submit their questions for Shane Phillips and the local panelists by Monday, May 13th at 8:00 AM.
In addition to the informative sessions, a resource center will be available for non-profits and service providers to share valuable information and connect with attendees. Interpretation services will be provided in partnership with True Ridge and Henderson County Public Schools.
